​October 4, 2025 was the Inaugural Plein Air & Urban Sketchers Festival in Downtown Meridian, MS. Professional, Amateur & Student artists turned up to paint and sketch in the downtown area. The community loved seeing artists on almost every block.
Thanks to all the artists who confidently shared their talent and love of plein air painting with us. Thanks to all of the art-lovers who purchased work at the Wet Paint Sale.
And thanks to all of the granting organizations and businesses who helped us bring this event to Meridian. We couldn't have done it without you!

Julie Martin is a talented fine artist known for her expertise in classical realism, particularly in portraiture and figurative works. She honed her skills at the prestigious Aristides Art Academy, where she immersed herself in the timeless techniques of classical artistry. Under the guidance of esteemed instructors such as Juliette Aristides, Stephen Bauman, and Justin Wood, She developed a distinctive, artistic voice that blends traditional methods with contemporary insights.
Before dedicating her life to art, Julie had a fulfilling career as a registered nurse. This unique background has profoundly influenced her artwork. Her extensive knowledge of human anatomy and the intricacies of the human form lends a remarkable depth and authenticity to her pieces. Each creation embodies not only technical precision but also an emotional resonance, inviting viewers to connect with the subjects on a deeper level.
